LONG recently had the privilege of participating in and sponsoring the annual Atlanta Gas Light Charity Golf Tournament at the Country Club of the South.
We were blessed to dodge the rain as Atlanta Gas Light employees, volunteers and partners collaborated to raise $125,597 for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Children’s), one of the nation’s premier pediatric medical facilities. This year’s contribution brings AGL’s total to $350,000 in Children’s funding over the last four years.
LONG is proud to support this Charity, as the event provides the funding needed to continue the research, training and innovation on which Children’s has built its reputation.

After fifteen years of planning and construction, Atlanta’s largest park is finally making its debut today. Locals will gather with Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms for the official ribbon cutting and grand opening of Westside Park Phase I.
LONG is proud to have provided civil site design for this project, as well as surveying services. The $26.5 million Westside Park at Bellwood Quarry is 280 acres, the largest greenspace in the City of Atlanta. It will also be transformative for Westside neighborhoods and become the home of a critical 2.4-billion-gallon backup source of drinking water for the city.
Park elements include a grand entrance, circulation drives, multiple rain gardens, a playground, parking lots, a grand lawn, and a spectacular overlook to view the quarry reservoir, trails and Mercedes Benz Stadium.
LONG is excited for this milestone completion and is currently designing the south trail extension connecting Westside Park to Woodson Park Academy, Grove Park Community, and Proctor Creek Trail.

As a leading Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) & Utility Coordination (UC) service provider throughout the Southeast, LONG had the privilege of presenting to the Cobb County Utility Coordination Committee. One of our Lead SUE Technicians, Jacob Mewbourne, led the presentation to inform the audience on the importance of these services, the different quality levels, and how investigation of underground utilities drastically reduces or eliminates delays and claims related to utilities during construction.
The audience consisted of various utility owners such as Cobb EMC, Marietta Water, Marietta Power, ATT, and Austell Gas. Contractors present included Ansco and Cable East, and Vendors/Subcontractors in attendance included HydroX, Southern Hydro Vac, Arcadis, and Croy.

LONG recently had the pleasure of attending the Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia’s 2021 Annual Meeting & Summer Convention, hosted by the Jekyll Island Club Hotel. Among the surveyors that were present, the following LONG personnel were in attendance: our Vice President of SUE and Survey, Sean Byers, our Land Development Survey Manager, Jaime Higgins, PLS, CP, and our SUE and Survey Project Manager, David Simmons, PLS.
Over the 3 days we enjoyed an agenda packed full of excellent speakers, delicious food, inspiring exhibits, and new connections.
It was wonderful to see everyone and connect in person with our Georgia surveying family. Thanks to SAMSOG’s incredible team for putting together a great conference with a host of top-notch speakers and sessions designed to foster professional development.
LONG is already looking forward to next year’s conference in Savannah!
