On March 25th, the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) hosted their annual Georgia Chapter Engineer Excellence Awards. We are pleased to announce that the Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design won Category 2 – Building/Technology Systems as well as the Grand Prize!

The Engineering Excellence Awards is an annual design competition held by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia (ACEC Georgia). The Engineering Excellence Awards recognize engineering achievements demonstrating the highest degree of merit and ingenuity. Entries are rated on the basis of uniqueness and originality; future value to the engineering profession; social, economic and sustainable development considerations; complexity; and successful fulfillment of client/owner’s needs.

The Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design is a $30M, 42,500 SF building that was integrated into the EcoCommons space on the Georgia Tech campus. This eco-friendly structure is among the greenest in the world for being “net positive” with its use of energy and water. In other words, the Kendeda Building generates more energy and captures more water than it uses.
