LONG is proud to receive the honor of the “2022 Internship Program Employer of the Year”, on behalf of the Georgia Tech Career Center.

Our VP of Civil Site Design, Andrew Pankopp, PE, LEED AP, shared that over many years, “Long Engineering has had the pleasure of working with Georgia Tech’s Career Center and Georgia Tech students through LONG’s internship program. With each semester, we are impressed by the capabilities and professionalism of our GT internship staff and truly value their involvement in our projects and day-to-day engineering tasks.

In many occurrences, we have also had the pleasure of transitioning these internship positions into full-time employment upon graduation, building upon the tasks and responsibilities learned, and acting as important members of the Long Engineering Team.”

Mr. Pankopp notes with confidence that inclusion in the Georgia Tech’s Career Center Internship program has contributed to the successes of Long Engineering, furthered the development of our engineering staff, and has acted as a powerful recruitment opportunity. LONG at KSU Career Fair

This month, LONG was honored to host a booth at Kennesaw State University (KSU)’s Career Fair. A few of our Civil Engineers, Robert Frere, EIT, Nicholas Sauer, EIT, and Ricardo Menchaca, EIT, helped organize the event booth and were able to meet with KSU students and chat about their career opportunities.

The KSU Career fair serves to connect many of the nation’s top companies with KSU’s brightest students and alumni for internship, co-op, full-time, & part-time positions. LONG was excited for the opportunity to share a little bit about our company, and to shake hands with these bright students.

LONG Completes SUE Services for Southern Company Gas in Cherokee County

LONG recently provided the Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) services for the 5.8 mile Phase II segment of this Wade Green Road project for Southern Company Gas in Cherokee County, GA.

SUE field designations for all subsurface utilities were performed beginning at Baker Rd and Jiles Way and ending at GA Hwy 92 and Wade Green Rd for the installation of a new 12” high-pressure gas main to bring greater capacity to the area for growing demand. The proposed pipeline route was dense with underground utility congestion including fiber optic, water, telecom & power all within the limits of proposed design. LONG’s team coordinated with the design team throughout to ensure incorporation of the existing utility conditions into the overall database survey for design. LONG provided SUE QLB (Designating) & SUE QLA (Test Holes) per ASCE 38-02 SUE standards.
