LONG was proud to be a part of the expansion project for the Northside Hospital Cherokee located in Canton, Georgia.
The Hospital added two extra floors onto its existing main patient tower. This expansion provides 53 additional hospital beds while also adding providing extra room for its emergency department and radiology services.
Our team provided complete site design services for this addition. Services included a demolition plan to remove storm drainage, water gas and electric lines, pavements, steps and portions of the existing building. A challenge to this project, besides the limited space for the facility, was the extensive tie-backs into the area from a 20-foot high retaining wall. This limited construction loading and locations for foundations and utilities. Site improvements included a new circular drive, drop off and pedestrian improvements below the tower. New storm drainage piping, water and fire lines were installed to serve the building.
Cherokee County has grown rapidly over the past 15 years and is now the sixth largest county in the Atlanta region. Northside Hospital Cherokee needed to be able to grow in order to adequately serve its community and LONG is happy to have played a pivotal role in that process.
