GDOT District 5 Roadway Materials Testing Services

Long Engineering, Inc. is performing field materials testing and asphalt plant quality control work for a number of roadway projects in GDOT District 5.  District 5 is comprised of 24 counties in Southeast Georgia, encompassing the entire coastal region (including Savannah, Brunswick and the Golden Isles) and extends across to Waycross and up to McRae, Vidalia and Statesboro.  These projects include the US-84 widening between Manor and Homerville; the SR-40 Improvements in Kingsland; upgrades to the I-95 / SR-251 Interchange in Darien; and US-1 /SR-252 in Charlton.  Our services include field compaction testing of asphalt and graded aggregate base for grading operations and asphalt paving, soil cement coring, and pipe bedding compaction as well as quality control at several asphalt plants where our technicians run ignition tests and sample liquid asphalt.

Roadway Materials Field Testing – Savannah and Chatham County, Georgia

Long Engineering, Inc. is providing roadway materials testing services for Georgia DOT on a number of projects in the Savannah and Chatham County area. Our technicians are performing field compaction tests for asphalt and graded aggregate base (GAB), as well as concrete coring for depth verification. The work is being done on projects under construction, including the King George Boulevard and Highway 204 intersection, the US-80 improvements from Thunderbolt and Tybee Island, and the Jimmy DeLoach Parkway. In addition, our technicians are responsible for monitoring several asphalt plants and doing QA/QC work to verify compliance with GDOT procedures. At the various plants, they perform ignition tests and asphalt content testing.
