Honoring Ellen Long

In honor of Ellen Long, our firm’s founder and former president, we celebrate today what would have been Ellen’s 60th birthday. Our beloved founder sadly passed away in July 2019. Under her leadership, Long Engineering successfully grew to what it is today – we know that Ellen would be proud to see how far her company has come since it’s inception in 1997.

Ellen was a talented leader and mentor to people in her industry, and a joy to all those that met her. Ellen’s impact and presence were felt throughout the AEC community, and she continues to be greatly missed by all.

A life well lived leaves others enriched. Even though Ellen left us too soon, her life touched all of ours deeply. We remember her with joy in our hearts today.

Scholarships at Kennesaw State University

Ellen and Shepherd Long, P.E., LEED AP, on behalf of Long Engineering, have been dedicated to providing financial support to assist students in achieving their dream of a college degree by establishing 3 scholarships at Kennesaw State University. Together, these endowed scholarships have provided over $400,000 of perpetual funding for KSU students in need. We are so proud and blessed to keep Ellen’s spirit alive in support of these important causes.

100 Influential Women to Know

Engineering Georgia Magazine recently published their inaugural ‘100 Influential Women to Know’ list for their January/February issue. Many people, including Engineering Georgia’s Editorial Board, were asked to recommend, review and determine the 100 women that have provided a tremendous impact in Georgia’s engineering community. We were happy to see our President and Founder, J. Ellen Long, PE, LEED AP make the list and be recognized for her efforts in building a successful civil engineering and surveying firm, dedicated to providing quality, value-based services throughout the southeast. The hard work, sacrifices, and endless hours that she has invested into her company over the years has allowed Long Engineering, Inc. to expand to three different locations, serving clients throughout the Southeast, as well as reach #24 on the 2017 Zweig Group Hot Firm List which recognizes the top 100 fastest growing A/E/P firms in the United States.
