Atlanta Gas Light is replacing part of a natural gas pipeline in Sandy Springs. Southern Company Gas hired Long Engineering (LONG) to replace the 12” steel & 6” high pressure steel pipe replacement in the high-profile area of the Dunwoody triangle of Mt Vernon Highway, Abernathy Rd, and Peachtree Dunwoody Rd in Dunwoody, GA. Services provided were Land Surveying (Right of Way, Boundary,Topographic and Utility), SUE QLB, as well as 40 SUE QLA Testholes. The project focused on retirement in place and replacement of multiple distribution pipelines along rights of way on all 3 roads. It required concentrated levels of municipal coordination and stakeholder engagement due to high density office, retail, MARTA & residential traffic within the project limits. Hours of work were restricted during the day to limit lane closures.
