Jackson Trail Road Bridge Replacement at Black Warrior River
Etowah County, Alabama
This project was completed as part of the Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation Improvement Program and consists of prestressed AASHTO beams on drilled shaft piers. The roadway is a two-lane rural section with AASHTO standard shoulders. The project was constructed on new alignment to improve sight-distance and increase design speed. Project issues included difficult geotechnical conditions due to voids in the subsurface strata.
