Bridge Designer

Position Summary

This position requires strong leadership and communication skills, excellent technical knowledge of bridge design, monitors and tracks project progress and schedules and is responsible for overall project performance and profitability.  The candidate is also responsible for preparing proposals, managing client relationships and plan, direct and monitor all aspects of multiple bridge design projects.  This position requires strong drive, motivation and self-initiative.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing bridge design including preparation of bridge plans, right of way plans, erosion and sediment control plans, detailing and permitting
  • Supervising and mentoring junior engineers and CAD technicians
  • Managing multiple project schedules and budgets simultaneously
  • Performing design work accurately and efficiently
  • Communicating clearly and positively both internally and externally

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in bridge design
  • Professional Engineer licensure in Georgia or ability to obtain within one year
  • Strong leadership skills – ability to manage and build teams effectively
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Prior experience with the design of bridges for GDOT and local municipalities, other DOT experience is acceptable
  • History of managing projects efficiently and profitably
  • Commitment to detail and quality of work
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record

Other Miscellaneous Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of the GDOT Plan Development Process
  • Experience with Microstation and InRoads, Conspan, PGSuper, or similar, LARSA 4D or similar, FB Multiplier or Lpile
  • GSWCC Level II Design Professional Certification
