Savannah Cultural Arts Center wins Georgia AIA 2020 Design Award

Long Engineering provided civil engineering design services on The Savannah Cultural Arts Center, which was recently honored by the “Georgia Association of the American Institute of Architects” during their annual statewide 2020 design awards competition. Out of more than 140 entrants from across the state, this notable project was selected as a top award for design excellence. We are proud to have been included on Gunn Meyerhoff Shay’s team, and given an opportunity to play a valuable role.

The center has also received the Honor Award from the South Georgia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

Located at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard and Oglethorpe Avenue, the Savannah Cultural Arts Center is a place where working artists and students of all ages can interact and participate in a love for the visual and performing arts. Completed in 2019, this approximately 42,000 SF facility includes a 400-seat performance hall, a black box theater, studios for dance and the arts, an art exhibit gallery, an outdoor performance space, and a partially restored Elbert Square.

Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design at Georgia Tech received ENR Southeast’s 2020 Best Green Project Award!

The Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design recently received the ENR Southeast’s 2020 Best Green Project Award! LONG was a proud member of Lord Aeck Sargent‘s team, providing civil engineering services for this ambitious green infrastructure project on Georgia Tech’s campus that was a Project of the Year finalist.

Embracing the most rigorous building performance standards in the world, the Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design is a multi-disciplinary building intent on becoming the first Living Building Challenge certified facility in the Southeast.

This 47,000 s.f. building uses just one-third the energy of a similar building, generates more electricity than it uses on an annual basis from solar panels on its roof, and captures and treats rainwater for all purposes, including drinking. Nearly everything removed during construction was salvaged, recycled, or turned into another usable product. The project will serve as a living educational environment, providing hands-on learning opportunities that will be a model for the region and other identical environments worldwide.

Long Engineering named a 2019 “Hot Firm” & “Best Firm to Work For”

We are proud to announce that Long Engineering is again the winner of the Zweig Group’s Hot Firm and Best Firms to Work For Awards, which honors outstanding workplaces at AEC firms. Hot Firms are ranked based on three-year growth in revenue, both by percentage and dollar growth.
