It is OUR community. Its where we live, work, raise our family and enjoy life. Why not make it a better place? We believe that it is our responsibility, and we enjoy making a positive impact. Here are a few things we have done lately
June 2009 - Long Engineering, Inc. was a sponsor for MAGIC (Mentoring a Girl in Construction) Summer Camp, a one-week day camp sponsored by the Sugarloaf Chapter of NAWIC (National Association of Women in Construction). MAGIC is designed to introduce high school girls to exciting careers in construction. Girls learn about various employment opportunities in construction and participate in hands-on activities to promote construction skills.
Georgia State University Facilities Management Golf Tournament – Long Engineering, Inc. was a Hole Sponsor and hosted a team in this year’s annual golf tournament. Proceeds are transferred to the GSU Foundation where they are used for Facilities Management Services personnel training programs, employee benevolence and employee events.
A. L. Burruss Elementary School – Several years ago the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce got us connected with A. L. Burruss Elementary School in the City of Marietta. Each year we have enjoyed providing school and art supplies to help in their education and to encourage their creativity.
Cobb Senior Services – We provided them with gas gift cards to ease the budget crunch for their Meals on Wheels programs which deliver hot meals to the elderly, home-bound residents of Cobb County.
Cobb Family Resources - At Thanksgiving, we participate in their Food Drive, collecting can items and donating gift certificates from local grocery stores to help families purchase a turkey for their meal. Since 1960, Cobb Family Resources has helped thousands of low-income families with employment, education, and housing services; leadership development programs; mentoring opportunities; and temporary financial and food assistance. They are committed to breaking the cycle of poverty by helping families acquire the resources they need to become independent and self-sufficient.
Atlanta Union Mission - We sponsored a hole for the Atlanta Union Mission Golf Tournament that raised money for the needs of the homeless shelter. Atlanta Union Mission is a Christian ministry that brings Christ's healing power to any person in crisis through programs of rescue and recovery. The Mission serves as many as 1,070 men, women and children every day of the year with emergency shelter, residential recovery and transitional housing
American Cancer Society - Each year, we participate in the American Cancer Society, Cobb County Chapter, Pink Ribbon Classic Golf Tournament as players and as a hole sponsor to help raise awareness regarding breast cancer. Tournament proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society and breast cancer initiatives. Last year, the event raised more than $60,000 and contributed to research, patient services, advocacy efforts and education for cancer patients and survivors.
