Runway 8R-26L is an existing runway and one of 5 at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The runway is 10,000 feet long and 150 feet wide and was constructed in the early 1960s. As the new 5th Runway project neared completion, the City of Atlanta Department of Aviation contracted with the Airport Consultant Team (Pond & Company and The LPA Group joint venture) to prepare construction documents for the removal of the existing 8R-26L Runway and to reconstruct it to current FAA regulations.
